Competition Prep: 
Learn competition preparation and performance strategies with our instructor Bo Byun, who has won and placed in several international guitar competitions! Topics discussed will range from mental preparation, the physical demands of competition, how to practice effectively leading up to them, and what to expect going into them!

Speed Learning:
From auditions, competitions and just plain professional life as a musician, you will likely need the ability to quickly learn repertoire at a high level and be able to perform it as if you’ve been playing it for months! Learn with instructors Mircea and Bo on how to dissect a piece and learn it as efficiently as possible in a crunch!

Theory Courses:
Learn music theory with instructors Bo and Brendon. Courses offered will be beginning, intermediate and advanced theory. Beginning theory can expect to learn intervals, scale construction and basic harmonic progression.
Intermediate theory will include voice leading, realizing figured bass, and more complex harmonies.

Advanced music theory will include advanced voice leading, realizing complex figured bass and analysis of tonal masterworks and excerpts for a deeper understanding of harmony and counterpoint.

Interp/ Score Study:
Looking to practice when your muscles are fatigued or when you’re in an autopiloted Tesla on your way to a concert? Learn the techniques of score study and interpretation away from the instrument with instructor Brendon. Anyone who’s practice time with the instrument is limited will benefit from this course! 

Sight Reading:
The better you read, the more repertoire you can play through! Join our instructors Jaxon and Mircea in these workshops on developing sight reading skills. Strategies/techniques, reading different clefs, reading from several staffs and more!

Technique :
One of the most valuable parts of guitarlab is getting the opportunity to do group technique workouts with some of the best technicians in the game right now.  Scales, Arpeggios, Slurs, difficult passages, and more… come learn the deep dark technique secrets that have carried our instructors to top prizes in competitions and auditions. 

Career Development:
Instructors Mircea and Jaxon will discuss in depth ways to develop your career professionally both with and without competitions. Topics covered will be social media, streaming, getting concerts, self-promotion, teaching and traveling!

Tours on a budget:
Learn with instructor Mircea about how to tour on a budget -  both nationally and internationally! Having been all over the world and done this himself, Mircea will give advice on how to make this happen!

Gigging Internationally:
Prepare the struggles and adversities you’re going to face in touring internationally before you actually do it!  Join instructor Mircea on the topic of gigging internationally and how to maintain your health and mental disposition while on the road.

Flamenco Guitar:
A passion of instructor Jaxon’s is flamenco!
Having studied with flamenco giant Adam del Monte, Jaxon will give classes on flamenco techniques, rhythms, dances, scales and the tradition as a whole.

Baroque Interp:
Ever wonder why Bach, or at least Baroque music is required at every audition and many competitions?
Join instructor Brendon in studying the aesthetics of the time, primary dance forms of the Baroque, ornamentation, styling and performance practice. It turns out music is language!

Teaching on teaching!
Part of almost every musicians life is teaching.
Join our passionate instructors Brendon and Jaxon on the art of pedagogy and how to become an organized and successful teacher.Topics discussed will be teaching styles, sequencing, organization, lesson planning, and how to teach specific guitar related techniques, as well as musicianship! 

Streaming:
In today’s world, streaming has become the regular platform for concerts, recitals and competitions. Learn from instructor Mircea On how to set up streaming platforms, possible workshops and performances in an online setting, and what hiccups to expect so that you can prevent many of the technical difficulties which happen to everybody!

Digital Marketing in Music Business:
Learn about the importance of, and skills related to digital marketing in the music industry. As a marketing consultant for one of the worlds leading classical guitar platforms, instructor Tomek will discuss techniques and strategies to market yourself digitally to maximize your reach and develop your career!

Research Techs in Music:
Every current and former music student  knows the importance of having research skills when associated with a University, both as a student or as faculty. If you’re interested in getting a position at a university or as a teacher in any rigorous school of music, learn how to be efficient and deliberate with your research to maximize output and reduce the time spent doing so.

Building a Press Kit
What do you need to begin concertizing? The first thing is certainly a press kit! When there are 15 press kits on one desk, and there is only one concert to give, what will make your press kit stand out so that you get the concert? Learn with instructor Jaxon how to stand out and build one from scratch.

Studying important excerpts:
Every instrument has a collection of excerpts that punish the performer and require some work and thinking through to master well. Study 10 contrasting excerpts from the standard repertoire. Each one will present different musical and therefore technical problems. Come solve them with instructor Brendon!

Performance anxiety:
Everybody suffers from some form of performance anxiety throughout their career at different points. Learn the ways to combat this, and change your outlook so that you feel comfortable on stage and can begin playing your best! Instructor Tomek will guide you and give advice on how to overcome these psychological obstacles!

On Practicing:
Our teachers only get to see us once a week, so for the other six days we have to teach ourselves. Work with instructor Jaxon on how to continue the lesson during those six days and how to improve more in a shorter time. Practice strategies, the mental process involved, and practical matters like scheduling and finding the time to sit down with the instrument will all be covered.

Supervised Practice:
Sign up for supervised practice with any of our instructors! During this time the instructor will watch you practice and comment throughout on what and how to change your practice to optimize your output.
